Position Title: West Coast Leadership and Development Fellow 

Reports To: Regional Director for West Coast and West Coast Engagement Assistant

Start Date: February 2022 

Location: Remote, pacific time preferred     

Compensation: $16/hour, 10-15 hours per week (flexible) 


Do you want to work at the intersection of politics, Middle East policy, the Jewish community, and fundraising? Are you interested in joining an organization that is changing the way people think and talk about Israel and U.S. Middle East policy?


J Street is seeking a West Coast Leadership and Development Fellow. They should be a highly organized self-starter who thrives on hitting ambitious goals to help J Street expand its political and communal footprint on the West Coast.


Responsibilities can include


General systems support:

  • Help maintain regional data so it is accurate, current, and stored appropriately
  • Prepare briefing materials for meetings and events
  • Assist with event recruitment, preparation, and management


Development: 

  • Research and identify new donor prospects at the $1,000 level and greater
  • Help draft donor communications
  • Maintain a prospect pipeline, managing up to help the team move fundraising efforts forward


Political: 

  • Help implement political fundraisers for JStreetPAC-endorsed candidates
  • Attend and take notes at political meetings with lay leaders and candidates running for House and Senate


Advocacy

  • Play a supporting role in building and maintaining a strong political advocacy
    structure in the region to effectively advocate on issues relating to Israel and the Middle East;
  • Attend and take notes at advocacy meetings with lay leaders and members of Congress


Required Skills and Characteristics

  • A strong commitment to J Street’s pro-Israel, pro-peace, diplomacy-first mission
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, able to prioritize multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently as well as in a team;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; 
  • Proficiency in Google suite; experience with Salesforce database management and Excel a plus
  • Eager to work collaboratively in a fast-paced and team-oriented environment
  • A positive attitude 


More about J Street
J Street is the political home for pro-Israel, pro-peace Americans working for the future of Israel as the democratic homeland of the Jewish people. The organization believes that preserving Israel’s Jewish and democratic character depends on achieving a two-state solution, resulting in a Palestinian state living alongside Israel in peace and security. 


Launched in 2008 with four staff and a limited budget, J Street is now a $10 million organization with a national staff of more than 60. The organization is headquartered in Washington, DC, employing staff in 7 cities including Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco, and Tel Aviv. 


J Street focuses its work in three main areas: (1) Advocating and demonstrating support for pro-Israel, pro-peace policies in Congress, the media, and the Jewish community; (2) Endorsing and raising money for federal candidates who share J Street’s agenda; and (3) Educating the public and raising awareness of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the two-state solution. 


Compensation and Time Commitment
